It Started With a Rescue Named Biscuit

Our founder, Dr. Emma Richardson, adopted a traumatised border collie from a rural shelter in 2012. Traditional boarding facilities only made his anxiety worse. That frustrating experience sparked an idea: what if there was a place designed around the emotional wellbeing of pets, not just the convenience of their owners?

Two years of research, facility design, and staff training later, Winding Haven opened its doors. We rejected the concrete-and-chain-link model entirely. Instead, we built spacious, home-like environments where pets could actually relax.

Today, we're proud to be the only fully fear-free certified facility in our region, serving thousands of pet families who share our belief that animals deserve better.
